The main goal of the Master’s degree Molecular Biology of the Cell (MBC) is to train biologists in the field of advanced bio-molecular research and to enable them to face present and future challenges in this field. Specific goal of MBC is to provide in depth and up-to-date knowledge in the following subjects: molecular genome analysis; regulation of gene expression; structure and function of biological macromolecules and their interaction in supramolecular complexes; cellular communication, signal perception and transduction, metabolic regulation, bio-molecular engineering and computing. The focus will be on theoretical as well as on practical aspects of bio-molecular research. The aim is to train graduate students to apply novel and emerging research technologies/approaches, ultimate data acquisition systems and analysis, as well as to experience frontier research in emerging research areas joining the laboratories of the Department of Biosciences. MBC graduates will be perfectly suited for entering a PhD school for advanced education. The duration of the Master’s degree program MBC is two years, each year is subdivided in two Semesters.

The degree programme is designed to provide graduates with both a solid, up-to-date scientific understanding of medicine, and a deep appreciation of the human and social complexities associated with health and disease. Graduates must therefore possess both a sound scientific grounding, and the requisite theoretic, practical and social preparation to practice medicine. Students will be encouraged to dedicate constant attention to the human aspects of health and disease and to develop the capacity to confront medical problems using a scientific approach and methodology, which they will also build upon through their participation in research projects. Students will also be equipped to analyse data critically and autonomously, verifying their scientific basis while always taking health costs into consideration. The International Medical degree programme - which is held at the facilities of LITA-Interdisciplinary Laboratory of Advanced Technologies, in Segrate (preclinical activities/first two years of the programme) and at "Luigi Sacco" Hospital, in Milan (clinical training/ years 3-6) - aims to contribute to the process of cultural and professional integration through an international training structure.

The master degree aim is to present provision of training program in risk assessment based on common European criteria, easily adoptable by institutions across Europe and focusing on Risk Assessment methodology and procedure. The training provides students with a multidisciplinary background sufficient to initiate research on the novel, necessary methodologies to be applied in the field of risk assessment. As mentioned in the program of activity of ECHA "In the evaluation of dossiers ECHA produces scientific judgments. These judgments must be based on scientific principles accurate and require well-trained and competent. A number of scientific disciplines, such as toxicology, chemistry, epidemiology, occupational hygiene, environmental fate and effects on the environment, exposure assessment and characterization and risk management, must come to comprehensive evaluation results from the scientific point of view." It is obvious that the professionals capable of an integrated assessment must be prepared in all the listed areas: at the moment, in Italy, no course is available (and very few are available in Europe) offering such a wide and targeted preparation. The proposal aims to provide the methodological background, knowledge and skills necessary to apply current methodologies and generate novel protocols, to acquire competence in problem-solving, to assess risks arising from production and use of chemicals and biotechnological products, with particular attention to the implementation of European Regulations through the integrated development of different areas including legislation, chemistry, toxicology and pharmacology, biotechnology, economics and risk analysis.

The Environmental and Food Economics Master’s program aims at providing students with advanced skills and a complete training in economics of the environment and of the agri-food sector. The program provides advanced expertise in economics and business disciplines, quantitative methods, and specific theoretical and applied knowledge in environmental and resources economics and in the economics and management of the agri-food system. The aim is to provide advanced knowledge and instruments for sustainable economic development, natural resources management (water, soil, energy), innovation in the agri-food sector, internationalisation of agri-food companies, food security and rural development, and policy analysis in related fields. In the first year, after key courses in mathematics and econometrics, the master proposes a balanced organization between common core teaching in the areas of business (Accounting, Environmental management), economics (Advanced microeconomics, Environmental economics) and agri-food economics (Food economics, International agri-food markets and policy). During the second year, students might choose to specialize further in one of the two fields: Environmental and Energy Economics or Economics and Management of the Agri-food System.

Economics and Finance is an exclusive master programme aimed at providing an excellent academic background and a practical sense of today's financial markets and international economy. The Master degree in Economics and Finance is a genuinely multidisciplinary programme, offering a well-balanced set of courses in economics and finance supported by several quantitative courses. Graduates of this master course will receive advanced training on quantitative methodologies and tools suitable to interpret and analyze the economic and financial phenomena and to operate directly on financial markets or in international economic institutions. The study program is designed to provide the students with solid background through the development of topics of economic theory, analysis of international financial markets and the theory of decision making under uncertainty. It includes study of financial markets from both the point of view of international law, history and economics. The first year establishes the capabilities in statistics, mathematics and computational techniques necessary for the analysis of financial data and economic time series. The second year of the master program is organized in two curricula. The first, Financial Economics, is dedicated to the training of economists capable of operating at international institutions or central government level in both the financial and economic sphere.

Develop a global reach in Human resource management and labour sciences through a interdisciplinary and European experience. The Msc in Management of Human Resources and Labour Studies (MLS) is an inspiring and challenging two-year programme that complements a business and management orientation with a rigorous, interdisciplinary social science foundation within a distinctive comparative focus. The distinctive nature of the program lies in the comparative approach, the strong orientation toward analytics, and the adoption of a learning by doing teaching approach which is enriched by laboratories, guest speakers, and events. The program offers two curricula entirely taught in English that represent two interconnected aspects of the area of Management of Human Resources and Labour Studies. The Human Resource Management and Employment Relations (HRMER) curriculum prepares students for a career in Human resource management at the global level, with a specific attention to a multidisciplinary set of competencies, which include different topics like labour law, labour economics, industrial relations, organizational behavior, as well as the different HR practices. The Comparative Social Policy and Employment Relations (CSPER)curriculum prepares students for a career in international organizations, Public Administration and comparative political economy as well as research in Labour policy.

The LL.M. Programme in Sustainable Development, established by the Faculty of Law of the University of Milan, is the first Graduate Program, at European level, taught entirely in English to focus entirely on the legal problems which are at the heart of the global agenda on sustainable development. The program provides students with a deeper legal understanding of the problems connected with the needs of the present generations regarding sustainability, and of the necessity to reconcile those with the needs of future generations. The LL.M. Program will be built on a structured approach of training and evaluating the academic and professional skills needed to integrate a deep knowledge of national, comparative and international development policies (and of the legal systems implementing them) with the three inseparable and interdependent components of sustainable development: social, economic and environmental issues.
